After certain verbs
After prepositions and

We use (TO + ING):

After certain verbs
After many adjectives
To show purpose

And we use the bare infinitive (the infinitive without TO):

After modal verbs

After LET, MAKE and HELP (sometimes)
After some verbs of perception
After expression with WHY

Sometimes is difficult to understand when we have to used, but now I have a better idea about the topic.
My doubt is: A gerund or gerund phrase is often the object of a preposition?
    Thanks ANDY!

  2. Hello Andy, thank you for sharing such interesting information about Gerunds and Infinitives.
From all that you have presented to us I learned that the Gerund is when the form of the verb ending in the letters "ing" and is used mostly when using verbs that express the beginning and end of an activity, while on the other hand the Infinitive we can use it after verbs such as would like, agree, decide, choose, plan, refuse, hope, want, manage etc.

  3. Hi, Andrea. I liked your post because it was concise about you wanted to explain. What I didn't know was that some infinitives are used after some verbs of perception while some gerunds are used to show purpose; and for me this was like a significant difference between both of them. I liked the web pages you recommended to read, comprehend and Practice more about using this two verb forms. The question that I have is: "are there some ambiguous situations where you can use both infinitive or gerund verbs forms? Thanks for your post.馃槂
